“If I had a nickel for every time
I ate at Chili’s, I’d have three nickels.”

— hannah sherrod

Yin: Mo bonked in the heat during her bike ride and stopped at the Smoocha Mucha Lucha Lasso course to draw dogs instead. Ball Dog was out playing, although he didn’t have his ball, so I suppose he’s just Dog. He’s my current favorite dog on the course, and now we have clinical proof. I like the way she labeled “tongue out” so you know in which drawing his tongue is out.

Yang: She tucked two sharpened pencils into her bike shorts before she left. I can imagine the obit. She assures me that “death by Ticonderoga No. 2” is exactly the way she would want to go.

Otherwise, an odd day. After yesterday’s inability to get up to zone 2, today I found myself lingering in zone 4. I’m guessing the Quit Taking the Stupid Pill That Keeps Me Alive Because What’s the Point If I Can’t Run in Zone 2 and Avoid Coach Kim’s Evil Stink Eye was a success. And I’m not dead yet, so there’s that. But then I’m not packing a Ticonderoga No. 2.

Yin: Shoe switch seems to have worked. I reckon the Mount to Coast H1s will be the winner in the Jackrabbit Sweepstakes. I reckon saying I reckon will boost my Texas street cred. Y’all.

Yang: Only problem was a hot right pinky that threatened to lead to a case of CarmenToe©, but it turned out to be a false alarm. Sometimes I wonder if I should try the trend of “wearing socks,” but that would require actually wearing socks, which would require finding socks, which would require having socks. This is why quarter-inch adhesive tape was invented.

Yin: Two weeks until Jackrabbit and I still have no reason at all to think I can pull it off, which is my favorite kind of run. I have always wondered about people who go into events prepared and tapered and not having eaten at Chili’s the night before the run. “Adventure is the lack of preparation,” the old saying goes. At least I think it’s an old saying. I may have just made it up. But then I’m old. Just saying.

Yang: I have a cool dog drawing, my pinky toe still has skin on it, and I just saw that the Fit PA Fancy Pants Training Plan© offers a Chinese translation, so I can apologize to Coach Kim for blowing yesterday’s run and I won’t understand his admonishment. Plus this will make it easier for the Chinese AI thieves when they eventually find the secret blog and commence to pillaging.

Yin: They say it now costs 86 dollars to make a nickel these days, so three trips to Chili’s would be a big payday.

Yang: Chili’s apparently no longer has chili on the menu. Likely why Hannah Sherrod stopped going. Oh, well. It probably had beans, ruining its Texas street cred.

Always something …

Ball Dog. Ball sold separately.

Yin: Ian was kind enough to add temps.

Yang: 99 degrees is not chilly. Or chili.
